Maplet
This is the online version of the (paper) Maplet.
Welcome to WHY2025
Why is the question we hackers ask a lot. Why does that work this way?
Why is this safe, is this secure? Why can’t this be better? Why is the basis of the ideals of a hacker.
And on this field, in the next few days, we will all create the world we yearn for. This is What Hackers Yearn 2025!
WHY2025 is a community-driven event.
Be polite and offer help to new and familiar faces. Over the next few days, immerse yourself in hundreds of workshops, presentations, villages, music, and art.
Reconnect with old friends and make new ones! Take this opportunity to explore new villages of people who share your interests, and find interesting things around every corner.
WHY2025 is organised by your peers, who have dedicated a lot of their time and energy to bring this amazing event to life.
Please feel welcome to contribute to the camp by taking on a few angel shifts or offering help wherever you can. Let’s make WHY2025 awesome!

General information
Be a volunteer during WHY2025
Without volunteer ‘angels’ the camp would not be possible.
An angel shift is usually about two hours long and a great way to meet new people, get to know more about the camp and earn a free brunch or dinner.
So register as an Angel, get your angel badge at Heaven, pick a shift and be part of WHY2025.
Infodesk / Lost & Found
If you have a question, can’t locate a venue, or need any other assistance, the Infodesk is there to help you on your quest. It is also the place to report lost or found items.
Accessibility
We are trying to make WHY2025 the most inclusive and accessible hacker festival yet.
If you need accessibility support, from ramps to hearing loops to transportation, please visit or call the Infodesk (4636) for more information.
Code of conduct
Team:Cohesion is the duct tape that holds the event together.
We try hard to keep everything running smoothly and ensure everyone feels included.
To support this effort, WHY2025 is guided by one core principle: be excellent to each other! We’ve set clear guidelines that define unacceptable behaviour during WHY2025.
Harassment, discrimination, or any form of harmful conduct will not be tolerated.
For more information and our full Code of Conduct, visit: Code of conduct.
If you feel like the Code of Conduct has been violated, you feel unsafe, or would like to talk, you can reach out through the following channels:
Speak to any event staff member and ask for someone from Team:Cohesion.
Email: cohesion@why2025.org
Call/Signal/WhatsApp: +31 (0)614 999 843 (24 hrs)

Food & drinks
You can buy food and drinks at the food court where a variety of vendors offer a wide selection of breakfast, lunch and dinner options.
For essentials, snacks and beverages, there is an on-site supermarket.
Badge
Team: Badge has created an amazing badge for WHY2025.
Visit the badge page to see all available apps or to upload your own, or stop by the badge tent.
On-site Payment
You can pay with your bank card or credit card, wearable, or you can go to the Infodesk and exchange cash for a QR code or to charge your NFC card.
You can use this to pay with at all on-site vendors.
Get connected
There is wired ethernet available on the camp grounds, which is distributed through so-called ‘Datenklos’.
Just lay your own cable with 5 meters of slack from the datenklo to your tent.
Network Angels will visit the datenklo at regular intervals to connect you.
To get disconnected, leave your cable curled up at the datenklo and the angels will unplug it.
For more information about the on-site network, please see wiki.why2025.org/network.
Phone network
There is a phone network at WHY2025 operated by Team:POC.
To activate your GAP-compatible DECT handset or use your SIP-compatible phone at WHY2025, please register your personal extension and follow these instructions.
Outgoing calls are prefixed with a zero, international calls with three zeros. You can also be called from the outside world via the following numbers:
Netherlands: +31 (0)85 234 [extension]
Germany: +49 (0)721 266 767 [extension]
There will be a 2-wire fieldphone network run by a 60 port manual phone exchange, which is connected to the DECT and SIP network.
Ask POC to connect your own field phone or use one of the many fieldphones on site.
Villages
A village is a group of like-minded people who want to camp together and more or less organise themselves.
Some villages organise sub-events, hackspaces or they have a self-curated programme.
If you see a village you like, don’t hesitate to say hi and strike up a conversation.
Family Zone
Welcome to the Family Zone - where future hackers and makers play!
From bouncy castles to coding, there’s fun for all ages. Join water gun fights, workshops, or relax with board games.
There might even be daycare possibilities! All info can be found at: wiki.why2025.org/Team:Family. See you at the Family Zone!
Capture the flag
WHY2025 hosts an awesome Capture the Flag game with both online and onsite challenge, that are fun for new and experienced participants.

Here is your first token: secret{FromTheInfoBooklet}
Check tokens.why2025.org for more info. Happy hunting!
A thank you to our sponsors
This event could not have happened without the contributions of all of our sponsors.
We’d like to extend special thanks to the contributors who prefer to stay anonymous, and those who are instrumental in making WHY2025 happen: EventInfra, all orga volunteers, and everybody who will take on one or more angel shifts.
