General Information
WHY2025 will take place in Geestmerambacht, a large recreational area approximately 42 km north of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Address
(Navigation address)
Both visitors and suppliers need to go through the gate (note: that the wagenweg will be closed). If you need to deliver anything then this address is to be used, so suppliers can find the right entrance to the camp.
To get to the event you need to use the following address:

Don't like to navigate, then follow these instructions and you will find the signs near Geestmerambacht pointing to the WHY2025 parking:
- From Amsterdam: Drive north on the A9 towards Alkmaar. At the Kooimeer junction near the AZ Stadium, exit onto the N9 and follow signs for Den Helder/Bergen.
- Exit onto N245: After a few kilometres on the N9, take the exit to N245 in the direction of Koedijk/Schagen.
- N245 to N504: Continue along the N245 past Alkmaar. Shortly after the Nauertogt exit you will encounter a junction with the N504; turn left onto the N504.
- Roundabout to Festivalweg: Follow the N504 (Provincialeweg) to a roundabout near Oudkarspel. Take the exit onto Festivalweg and follow the festival signs.
- Destination: Festivalweg leads directly to the festival entrance. The official address is Festivalweg 2, 1724 PT Oudkarspel. Continue straight until you see the parking fields.
How to Get There
By Car
If you are traveling by car or camper, navigate to the roundabout at N504.
For precise directions, set your navigation to:
- Festivalweg 2
- 1724 PT Oudkarspel
- Dijk en Waard
Follow the event signage to the designated entrance and parking areas.
Drop-off spots for Kiss&Ride are available as well.

By Public Transport
The event site is accessible via public transportation.
- Train: travel to Alkmaar Centraal Station. NS planner then it's best to take our Shuttle Service from there.
- Bus: From Alkmaar Centraal Station, take bus line 4 to the stop Alkmaar, Rietschoot.
This bus stop is approximately a 60-minute walk from the event location.
Do not trust for example Google maps to give correct transport options, use for example ns.nl for trains or 9292.nl for all public transport
Shuttle Service
A dedicated shuttle service will operate between Alkmaar Station and the event site during WHY2025. See Shuttle Service for more information.
By Bike
Geestmerambacht is easily accessible by bicycle.
- The area features well-maintained cycling paths leading directly to the event site.
- Designated bicycle parking areas will be available near the entrance.
- Some hackers organized themselves on a bike: hackers on a bike.
Cycling is a convenient and eco-friendly option for visitors residing nearby.
If you are arriving on the site by bicycle, you can:
- Arrive from the north via Groetpad.
- Arrive from the west via Wagenweg.
Note: you cannot arrive via Provincialeweg as cycling is not allowed.
If you navigate by the Node system, node 93 in region Dijk en Waard is the nearest node, and situated at the Wagenweg.
On Foot
If you are arriving on the site by foot, you can:
- Arrive from the north via Groetpad.
- Arrive from the west via Wagenweg.
- Arrive from the east via Wagenweg, and take this path to get to the entrance.
By Boat
Please note that there is no option to arrive by boat for this event, as the location does not have harbor or docking facilities.
Additional Notes
- Follow event signage for parking and check-in upon arrival.
- Stay updated with official communications regarding public transport and shuttle schedules.
- Plan your journey in advance to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Roadworks
There will be some construction works on major roads in the Netherlands.
- The Coen Tunnel on the A10 west is closed towards the north, this will lead to additional traffic on the rest of the A10.
- When coming from A2, follow A9 towards Alkmaar.
- When coming from A1, follow your navigation.
- The A5 will be closed going south.
- Follow the detour over the A9 and A2 when leaving towards The Hague, Rotterdam, Breda and Antwerp.
Track works
Due to track works there will be no international regional trains on RE19 Oberhausen Hbf - Arnhem Centraal and RE13 Venlo - Mönchengladbach Hbf (the last will run on week-ends). Rail replacement busses will run on these routes.
The ICE international from and to Amsterdam will run via Mönchengladbach Hbf and 's-Hertogenbosch.
