Join us
We are looking for angels that want to help the Fire! team. If you have any fireman or equal certifications (e.g. 'fire marshal' or BHV) please join us! Any help is appreciated.
For the days before the event and the day after the event we also need many hands to help us deploy all the safety equipment over the terrain. For these first days, certifications are not required.
Mission Statement
Our mission objective is to facilitate a memorable and enjoyable event for all participants, safely.

Camp Rules
The camp rules below allow us to keep the event safe for you and our friends. If you have any wishes that involve fire safety, feel free to contact us so we can together see what we can make possible.
General
- Keep the emergency routes free and position your tents within the specified boundaries
- When placing a tent or any other object: Ensure that the entrances and/or exits of neighboring tents or buildings remain accessible.
- Ensure that tripping over (wooden) floorboards, platforms, cables, runners, mats, and other objects is prevented. The ropes of the tent can also hinder escape; make sure they are placed safely.
- Smoking is not allowed in public tents
- Open fires are not allowed, other than specified by the organization
- Fire safety can be checked by the WHY2025 organization or by the municipality fire department. They are allowed to request additional safety measures which must be followed-up.
Any tents, but especially large tents and party tents
- Please note that we are now very close to the sea and wind speeds of 7 on the scale of Beaufort are not exceptional. This means that normal tent pegs (Dutch: haringen) will not secure your tent enough, especially not party tents. Please ensure that you use tent pegs that can withstand high wind speeds and you have enough guy ropes (Dutch: scheerlijnen) to secure your tent.
Cooking
- Cooking is allowed on gas and electric cooking equipment.
Gas Cooking:
- Gas bottles up to 250 gram are allowed. Larger quantities will be subject to a check on the below specifications during the event:
- The inspection period of the gas tank may not be expired
- Gas tanks must be placed in upright position.
- Gas hoses must not exhibit cracks, discoloration, or indications of drying out.
- Gas hoses must not exceed a maximum age of 10 years
- Gas hoses must not exceed a maximum length of 5 meters
- The pressure reducing valve must be less than 5 years old.
- Turn off the gas tank after usage
Electric Cooking:
- Make sure electric cooking equipment complies with Team:NUTS' guidance on electricity consumption and electricity safety.
- When using equipment that has a large power consumption (e.g. ovens etc), please align with Team Power to ensure you will not overload the grid.
BBQ and Open Fires
- BBQ's and open fires (e.g. charcoal, wood etc) are not allowed.
- But, we will place public gas BBQ's again that can be used freely. A good way to socialize.
Electricity
- WHY2025 provides (more than enough) power, it is not allowed to use your own power generator
- For guidance on connecting, please follow Team:NUTS' guidance on connecting devices written here
- Equipment used and connected outside must be IP65-certified
Large Tents
- Tents larger than 25m2 or with more than 10 people sleeping need to be pre-registered for safety reasons.
- Tents need to be fire-retardant according to NEN 6065 class II norm (equivalent DIN 4102-B1).
- Tents with more than 10 sleeping beds must have a working fire alarm
- Per group of 25 persons a minimum of 1 foam fire extinguisher with a minimum capacity of 6 liters must be present.
- If a tent is (larger than 60m2) OR (more than 30 people average are present) OR (at a peek more than 50 people are present), An emergency exit sign with emergency lighting is required.
- A means of escape at a tent must have an unobstructed passage with a width of at least 0.85 meters and a height of the escape route of at least 2.0 meters
- Do not let too many people inside. The basic principles are 4 standing persons per square meter of net floor area. For seated persons, 2 per square meter of net floor area apply.
- Keep emergency exit(s) free from obstacles.
Note: we can help you with above, please just ask :).
Powder extinguishers
- Please be aware that powder extinguishers are strictly prohibited. At MCH2022, several foam extinguishers were found to be empty upon return. Using a powder extinguisher will inadvertently cause collateral damage to our friends' electronic equipment far around you".
