Hack your toothbrush
lets create simple robots from old toothbrushes. (we will also have a bunch of vibrating motors, batteries, battery holders and switches for anyone not bringing their old toothbrush)
Age groups
Kids from 3-6 (or 9?) should come accompanied by parents
Time required
1 hour should be fine so everybody has a chance to finish their bot, most kids will finish early
Materials required
- vibrating motors (1 per kid) [0.5-1 eur per motor). [ordered]
- battery + holder + switch + wires (1 per kid) [0.5-1 eur per battery) [ordered]
- brushes, cardboard, plastic cups, pencils, wire, .... to make the bot look amazing [0.5-1 eur per kid]
- scissors, glue, tape, color paper, colors, ....
we can put 4-6 kids at one table to share the materials (scisors, glue, tape, colors ...)
for budget of 100eur we can cover 50 kids
if we can publish our schedule before the camp we can ask parents to bring in their old toothbrushes. recycling old stuff is always great.
Materials arranged
- motors, batteries, holders, wires and switches: solata10
- cardboard, plastic cups, pencils:
- scissors, glue, tape, colors:
Angels required
We need 2-3 angels (or kid angels) to help spread the materials and assist to anyone having problems.
Status
- wiki page written - materials ordered
Howto: Buildup
- TODO: Where to get the stuff from?
- no additional voulenteers needed, the ones running workshop can prepare the place 30-15 minutes in advance.
- gather all the materials
- prepare multiple tables so kids can be aranged in groups and share basic tools like scisors, glue, tape, ...
Howto: Teardown
- kids can keep their robots
- cleanup the space, put tables and shared materials back where we found them
- no additional voulenteers needed, the angels who help run the workshop can help teardown
