Creating rockets out of soda bottles, each kid can create his own rocket, paint it and decorate it. After we could launch a few if we have adequate space available.

Dependencies

  • TODO: Other teams needed?

Materials required

  • two 0.5l soda bottles per kid (we ask them to bring it? )
  • sandpaper (to sand the plastic bottles down to apply glue or color)
  • color paper and glue and acrylic colors/pens to decorate the rockets
  • silver tape (to join the things)
  • scissors to cut the bottles/ tape/ paper

two options: a)

  • 3d printed adapter for wings and gardena connector, 3d printed wings and 3d printed nosecone
  • gardena connector (1eur)

this kind of rocket can be launched into the air, we wouldnt build the launcher but i would bring one with me and if there is enough space we can launch some (rocket filled only with air will fly around 10 meters high, rocket filled with air and water will fly around 30 meters up)

b) cardboard to make the wings, attached with duct tape this kind of rockets are purely decorational

Materials arranged

Who will provide them, and when?

  • None

Status

  • TODO: Buildlog...

Howto: Buildup

  • Where to get the stuff from?

- i can print out parts for some rockets but would probably need somebody to help me print more. - gardena connectors: i can buy them, but what number ? - sandpaper: i can bring - colorpaper, glue, silvertape, scissors, colors: anyone bringing tons of that already or is it going to be available ?

  • How many volunteers are required?

depends on the number of kids, at least one dutch/german speaking, for younger kids we can ask parents to come along.

  • How much time is required?

1-2 hours

  • Provide instructions on how to set up the installation on the event site.

kids should be aranged in groups, 4-5 per table. we should have tables with chairs, on each table we would need scisors, glue, colors, color paper. Each group can come collect that to the main table. Each kid would collect the 3d printed parts and gardena connetor.

for launching we would need a clear space (with no people) in radius of 10m (if we are launching with air only) or 50m (if we are launching with water) + some protection screen if we are launching with water (some fencing or chairs can work)

Howto: Teardown

  • Throw/give away?

rockets can be taken away

  • How many volunteers are required?

no additional volunteers for cleanup, we just need to rearange the desks again and do some cleanup.

  • How much time is required?

30 minutes after the workshop
