What happened to MCH, SHA, OHM, and previous events?
Since 1989, the Dutch hacker community has organized events every four years under different names. The last one was May Contain Hackers (MCH2022), and now we continue the tradition with What Hackers Yearn 2025 (WHY2025)!
What are the dates of WHY2025?
The event starts on **Friday, August 8, 2025, at 17:00** and ends on **Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 16:00** with the closing talk.
Is there a schedule?
Yes, see Camping for general information. The build-up schedule will follow in due time.
When can I enter the terrain?
Visitors are welcome from **August 7, 2025, at 12:00**.
- If you booked a village, you can start **August 6, 2025, at 12:00** (subject to confirmation with the official schedule).
- If you want to help during build-up, you are very welcome! Contact us in advance to arrange your extended stay.
Where's my ticket?
If you ordered a ticket and received confirmation, your ticket will be emailed to you soon. See Tickets for more details.
What about accessibility?
We aim to make facilities accessible, including toilets and showers. If you have specific needs, please contact us.
Note that as an outdoor camping event, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted power for medical devices, but we will do our best to accommodate all visitors.
Children during build-up:
- Kids under 12 are **not allowed** on-site.
- Older kids (12+) can help but must be under adult supervision and wear a hi-vis vest at all times.
Is there merchandise? A free volunteer shirt?
Yes! Pre-paid merchandise will be available for pickup. If you haven’t pre-ordered, some items may be available on the last day.
Volunteer shirts are available for those who meet the required hours of work in the Angel system.
What COVID measures are there?
We will follow Dutch government guidelines. Measures will be in place for proper ventilation, hand washing, and optional mask use.

Can I help?
Yes! You can help before and during WHY2025. If you want to volunteer, register in the Angel System. More shifts will become available closer to the event.
Can my child help?
Yes! We encourage kids to participate. Special children’s tasks will be added to the Angel System for those 6 and up.
I lost something!
Lost & Found is located at the Info Desk.
If you lose something:
- Check nearby and ask around.
- Go to the Info Desk to see if it was found.
- If found, you will be contacted if your item is labeled.
- Report missing items so we can keep an eye out.

When is the next Dutch hacker camp?
Probably in 2029, with a new theme and new organizers!
Where can I give feedback?
After the event, a feedback page will be available.
