Lightning Talks

Lightning Talks are short (5-10 minute) talks, with or without slides, that (almost) any congress participant may give!

Bring your infectious enthusiasm to an audience with a short attention span! Discuss a program, system or technique! Pitch your projects and ideas or try to rally a crew of people to your party or assembly! Whatever you bring, make it quick!

Lightning talk registration will open close to the event. We assign timeslots on a first-come, first-served basis. If you prefer a specific day and/or time slot, let us know. Please edit this Wiki page to apply for a slot. If you feel you're unable to do that, feel free to send us an E-Mail to [some place] . We will reach out to you then. If you have a slide, please attach them too.

To be sure you have your slot locked, and if you're presenting slides, please swing by the Speaker desk to check, and test your equipment with the A/V setup.

Q:It says to edit this page to apply for a slot. Could someone start this off with an example to show how these edit-applications should look? A: This will become available once the lightning talks blocks on the schedule are finalized! We'll create tables for each time chunk within the schedule, so one can just add their name/handle, talk topic etc. With a few days to go for WHY2025, we now have quite a few schedule changes. So keep an eye to this page for the slot tables to show up, and claim yours(and don't be tempted to be naughty, ofc be nice to others ^-^!)
